Gold River is the perfect base camp for your adventures; with dozens of activities within 30 minutes, you won't be short of entertaining options to

choose from.

We are a campground with a communal vision in mind. There are community fire pits, four grills (two charcoal + two propane), an open air pavilion with high top seating overlooking the river, a picnic area and several gathering porches.

We hope you'll enjoy an off-screen getaway, but if that's not an option, we do have Starlink Wifi.

We hope you have a Golden Getaway!

What's the deal with the GOLD?!

The Second Broad River and the South Mountain Gold Belt played a large role in the North Carolina Gold Rush of the 1800's. With over 500,000 miners working this area, the very plot of land you are staying on has a rich (literally?!) and sassy history!

Today, there can still be gold found in this very river. At Gold River we welcome you to try you hand at old fashioned gold panning in the river.

Panning is a patient process; there are YouTube videos you can watch to help master the technique. Gold pans, shovels and screens are provided in the pavilion for your use, free of charge.

Panning in the river is done at your own risk - Gold River is not responsible for injury or loss and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. We simply ask that you return your equipment to the pavilion when you are done with the fun!

Currently, there are no dredges or high bankers allowed at Gold River (unless otherwise specified for special event weekends).

If you wish to try your hand at these techniques, we suggest you visit one of our fabulous neighbors, just a few minutes down the road (literally, turn left on Polly Spout Road and you'll run right into them!):

Welcome to our charming camp on the edge of adventure. We're the owners, Kathryn and Trevor, but let's be honest, the bosses are the ones is diapers and our sweet pup, Maya.

In 2018 we took a perspective changing round-the-world trip; when we returned we knew we wanted life to look different, we just didn't know exactly how. By the grace of God, we were blessed to find our little slice of paradise and now we get to share it with you. Inspired by the lifestyle of Southeast Asia, the Hospitality of Eastern Europe and the Work Ethic of Africa, we're hoping to share the favorite parts of our travels with you!

Whether you're just planning on kicking back and enjoying the peaceful rushing river or if you're only looking for a basecamp for your adventures, either way, we hope your stay will be golden!
